Humbug
Not feeling very happy about uv at mo' couple of comments from Lfs who in the past have been absent from the forum. they're now all over the place asking constant questions but confusing me even more such that I'm feeling really inhibited. they have also made comments about what we can discus in the cohort space. I understand the need to have module discussion and the setting up of areas for this is very sensible but to tell us what to discuss in our cohort area I think is too much. One minute they want us to have a free flow and team peer spirit now I feel protective of it's loss. I wonder if this is the reason that the communication is drying up?
The next problem is seeing my way into the module I really can't at present I need to start writing. I'm going to work on LA2 and 3 this weekend. I have a lot of the raw data but I can't yet visualise how I'm going to structure it. I had hoped the conversation with WB would be sufficient but discovered she only covers part of the trg work.
Interview with WB and sound recording.
Had a very productive session with WB regarding the SDP. I recorded a couple of sections as mp3s. Malc hac helped cleaning them up slightly. There a bit hissy but good enough to hear. I hadn't realised how many people I would need to talk to in that she only covered part of the SDP. Her focus for major change is on Performance management review, CPD and team working. I'm going to talk to ME and JC if I have time. I can extrapolate WB comments to cover the other aspect if I 'm not able to do so.
I now have to absorb the conversation or segregate it into smaller chunks and hopefully include them into my work.
Tomorrow I have permission to go into the inset day for a session as we have some one coming in to talk to us about thinking skills - Ian Harris - Eye Q. I'll let you know how I get on.
ILM - intermitting and the PDP
ILM well first look at the module and the heavy overlap with this one has started me to focus on LIWS content. Back to KISS keep it simple. I've looked through my PDP and I've completed a bit of it. The unknown is what I'll find when I return to work. I'm seeing my advocate to morrow I'm worried about the normally rushed and interrupted nature of previous meetings so need to spend today focusing in what I need from the meeting. Look again at LAs 2 and 3 and focusssssss.
Pre LA work
It occurs to me that I'm knocking myself out as I've done very little writing yet for this module. There is still a great deal of understanding to be done first. I've started making schematics of the interaction between roles and staff, influences both internal and external. I'll draw up a table of learning opportunities in the org. that I can take to work on Wed when I see WB. I'm still at the swamped phase as there is so much to take in with this module. I've also got to start getting into the habit of creating say a website for this one which I hope to then move into next year with. another thing is to start using this means of journal more. I've been writing stuff down in an A4 pad but it has mainly been course related info rather than reflections per se. Critical reflection has been something I need to re-examine. Just came across reference to Mezirow and crit. reflec.
Also been musing about the concept of an org. being likened to a human body some of all it's parts etc. I will repute this in that this assumes mono-functional roles i.e. heart pumps, kidney filters etc. In an org most people have multi-functional roles. Me for example:
- Managing Ict room booking/use
- behaviour control
- teaching ICT
- training staff
- maintaining pcs
- team leader
- employee
- learner!
This list doesn't cover all the informal learning aspects or social interactions with other staff which is another mindmap. I'm really missing the ILM course it would have been so useful.
Right tasks for today....I want to start preparing for Weds SDp queries and PDP stuff plus learning opps and or who, get some of this mindmaping out of my head onto paper to free up space.
